Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Clarence ("Clarence," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from myclarence.com (the "Site"). It also describes your privacy rights, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA") and other U.S. state privacy laws.
By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Personal Information We Collect
When you use the Site or make a purchase, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and IP address.
- Customer records / commercial information: order history, products purchased, and billing details. (Full payment card numbers are handled by our payment processors and are not stored by us — see Section 4.)
- Internet or network activity: browser type, operating system, pages viewed, and interactions with the Site, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.
- Approximate geolocation: derived from your IP address.
- Inferences: preferences drawn from your activity, used to improve our Products and marketing.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as Social Security numbers, precise geolocation, or health data) beyond what you voluntarily provide.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Process, fulfill, and deliver your orders, and provide customer service.
- Verify payment and prevent fraud.
- Send transactional messages (order confirmations, shipping updates).
- With your permission, send marketing communications about our Products, new launches, and offers.
- Analyze and improve the Site and our Products.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Email and SMS Marketing
Email: With your consent, we may send you marketing emails. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We comply with the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act.
SMS/Text Messages: By providing your phone number at checkout or on the Site, you consent to receive automated text messages from us, including order/shipping updates, abandoned-cart reminders, and promotional offers. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies (typically no more than a few messages per month). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, or HELP for help. We handle SMS in accordance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and applicable carrier requirements.
4. Payments and Shopify
Our Site is hosted by Shopify Inc., which provides the e-commerce platform that allows us to sell to you. Your data is stored on Shopify's secure, firewall-protected servers.
If you pay through a direct payment gateway, your payment information is encrypted and processed in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), a standard maintained jointly by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Transaction data is retained only as long as necessary to complete your purchase. For more information, review Shopify's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
5. How We Share Your Information
We share personal information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the business (hosting, payment processing, shipping and fulfillment, email/SMS platforms, and analytics), only as needed to perform their services.
- Advertising and analytics partners (such as Meta and Google) through cookies and pixels used for measurement and targeted advertising.
- Legal and safety recipients, where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect our rights, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Important note on "selling" and "sharing": Under the CCPA/CPRA, using advertising cookies and pixels (for example, for retargeting on Meta or Google) may be considered "selling" or "sharing" personal information, even though we do not receive money for it. If you run these pixels — which most stores do — you should keep the opt-out language in Section 7 and not state that you never sell or share data. (Flagging this so the Policy stays accurate to how the Site actually operates.)
We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years old.
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and others), you may have the right to:
- Know / access the personal information we have collected about you.
- Delete personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising.
- Limit the use of any sensitive personal information.
- Non-discrimination: we will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your rights.
Where applicable, you may also have the right to appeal a decision we make about your request.
7. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Opt-Out
To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising, you can:
- Email us at contact@myclarence.com, or
- Use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our Site footer (add this link in your Shopify privacy/consent settings), and
- Enable the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we honor as a valid opt-out request.
8. How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of the rights above, email contact@myclarence.com with your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 45 days, with the possibility of an extension).
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Credit card information you provide is encrypted using SSL in transit and AES-256 at rest. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, but we follow PCI-DSS requirements and additional generally recognized industry standards.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your cart, analyze traffic, and support advertising. Shopify sets certain functional cookies, including:
- _session_id / _secure_session_id — unique session identifiers.
- _shopify_visit / _shopify_uniq — used for internal visit statistics.
- cart — stores your shopping cart information (persists ~2 weeks).
- storefront_digest — used where the store is password-protected to determine access.
You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, through our cookie-consent banner. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
12. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children. By using the Site, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state of residence. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or, for the sale/sharing of data, under 16). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and this Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes take effect when posted on the Site, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. Please review this Policy periodically.
